Become a Volunteer
The SPCA of TN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue. Thank you for taking an interest in helping fulfill our mission—to rescue, nurture and adopt dogs of all breeds into loving homes. Our volunteers are dedicated to changing the lives of homeless dogs and finding them their forever homes.
There is something for everyone to help with. We take the time to train and educate our volunteers about our mission and programs. Have a special skill or ideas for our rescue? We want to hear about it! Our volunteers are a big part of our “TEAM” helping us spread the word with marketing, social media, fundraising and more.
Some aspects we use our volunteers for are
ADOPTION & SPECIAL EVENTS: Home for Good features our foster pets at weekend adoption events. Adoption volunteers are needed to transport animals during events, exercise the dogs and screen potential adopters.
TRANSPORTS: Transport volunteers help transport dogs from shelters and into our care. We need help on an intermittent basis to pick up rescues from overcrowded and high-kill shelters.
CLERICAL ASSISTANCE: Grant writers, newsletters, bios for the dogs on our Petfinder and Pet Portal pages.
APPLICATION/CONTRACT PROCESSING: Volunteers are needed to process Adoption Applications and Adoption Contracts. Application processing can be done either at home or at Adoption Events. Contract processing can be done at Adoption Events.
MEDICAL: is always in need of discounted veterinary services. We pride ourselves on taking superior care of our dogs’ health and well-being.
TRAINING: Licensed dog trainers are needed to work with dogs that may need to relearn basic obedience.
MERCHANDISE ASSISTANT: Volunteers are needed to help to inquiry about crates, food donations, leashes and collars, dog beds, dog food, cat litter, toys etc.
We are always looking for volunteers who have a special dog service and would like to donate occasional assistance to our foster homes and dogs. A volunteer application must be fill out at spcatn.org and be approved by our Board of Directors. Once your application is completed, you will be contacted by our Volunteer Director and asked to have an orientation meeting before assisting with our rescue.
