LHS FFA Silent Auction
By: Grace Reuss
On Friday April 26th, 2024, Lavergne High School raised over $600 dollars for the SPCA of Tennessee. The FFA chapter organized an auction where they sold many handmade art, pet supplies, and jewelry. Over the course of a month Angayla Maxwell, the chapter advisor, and the students organized this event, the students worked incredibly hard to handmakeA personal goal of the chapter advisor Angayla Maxwell is to increase agricultural literacy among students. items to be sold. Some honorable mentions for students who did exceptional work are Ethel Rodriguez who contributed most of the art, Talley Barber who made jewelry, like rings and bracelets, and Kaylee Gillotti who made homemade dog treats. Celina Battle, the founder of the SPCA of Tennessee, attended and participated in the auction; students met her and learned about the SPCA.
Before this year, LaVergne's FFA was not very active due to lack of student involvement, this year however, the club is thriving due to many students helping and participating in events. A personal goal of the chapter advisor, Angayla Maxwell, is to increase agricultural literacy among students. Moving forward the LaVergne FFA is hoping to continue to be active in the community, continue to partner with the SPCA of TN, and participate in competitions.

Ali Taylor and Gary Country Artists were fantastic, the Nash Dogs were amazing as well as Esther Kelly the Main Pet Smart trainer in Cool Springs. The weather was beautiful and the whole volunteer team was so helpful. I couldn't ask for a better turn out. Until next year!!!
